| The police on Wednesday recovered Rs. 69 lakh after arresting four
persons, including two contract employees of A.P. State Housing
Corporation who allegedly embezzled Rs. 2.29 crore of the corporation
online a month ago.
The police also got bank deposits of Rs. 54.43 lakh belonging to the
accused frozen and seized documents of immovable property worth Rs. 84
lakh and other goods worth Rs. 10.15 lakh, all of which they acquired
with the defrauded money.
Among the arrested were, K. Ram Mohan Rao (30), the corporation’s
data entry operator, P. Rajasekhar Reddy (28), the corporation’s bank
statements overseer, Hyderabad Detective Department DCP Mohd. Iqbal
told reporters. Rao’s father, K. Suryanarayana, brother, K. Srinivas,
25, too were held for aiding the duo.
Rao and Reddy were working in the SHC’s office at Himayatnagar. As
per the job chart, Rao would upload and download the particulars of
money to be disbursed into various accounts across the State through
the corporation’s website. He was given the password to log in and send
the details to the SBI, which in turn, would deposit the money. |
